Cupping

What is Cupping Treatment?

Cupping is a technique that uses small glass cups as suction devices placed on the skin to disperse and break up stagnation or congestion by drawing congested blood, energy or other humors to the surface

What Therapeutic Effect Does Cupping Have?

Cupping can be relaxing and soothing. It works on the body's meridian system, to "open up" any stagnant points for a better flow of Qi, and to rejuvenate certain meridians and organs that are not functioning at their optimum. Scientifically, this technique is known to help activate the lymphatic system, promote blood circulation and aid deep tissue repair.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

I saw doctor Gabriel for my slip disc and he helped strengthen my back with acupuncture and cupping, in preparation for surgery. After that I was also able to recover quickly thanks to his treatment. The staff there are also very friendly and helpful. So I would definitely recommend the place to others.

What Do I Feel During The Treatment?

Contrary to the commonly-held impression, the suction of the cups does not hurt. In fact, most people find the sensation very pleasant, a sort of a release. The cups can remain in position for several minutes, or the therapist can glide them over the skin similar to the movements of a massage. This negative pressure is the opposite to a deep tissue massage – a pulling versus a pushing effect.

Any Possible Side Effects After Cupping?

It is likely that there may be a resulting reddening of the skin directly under the cup, the colour of which depends on the health of the underlying tissue. Healthy tissues do not leave a dark circle.
